What is the process in obtaining Medical Marijuana legally?
First, one must get a face to face history and good faith examination from a California licensed phyisican who will perform a Medical Marijuana Evaluation. This physician is required to complete the medical marijuana evalutaion for recommendation or approval of medical marijuana. This primary care provider must develop a treatment plan with objectives, discuss side effects of medical marijuana, and perform periodic review of the treatment’s efficacy. This primary care provider should use consultation, as necessary, and provide proper record keeping that supports the decision to recommend the use of medical marijuana. Once a patient obtains a recommendation or approval to receive medical marijuana (California Physician Statement Health and Safetly Code 11362.5 – AKA 215 card) then he or she can grow and possess marijuana legally in the State of California.
