What is the process which proteins are synthesized in cells called?

translation might be a bit lacking in terms of defining the entire process of protein synthesis (but it’s obviously the first step, and it does indeed directly make the protein from RNA) since there are additional protein modifications afterwards (post translation modifications and folding) ‘protein synthesis’ would be a good general term for the entire process, translation would probably be the most correct in terms of the most important step – converting RNA into the not yet finalized protein
