What is the proof of einsteins theory of relativity… please answer in a simple and easy to understand?
It is called “special” because it only deals with a special case of his General Relativity. It only deals with inertial reference frames, and not accelerating ones. The proof is in its ability to accurately predict things that Newtonian Mechanics does not get right. Among them are the affects of powerful gravitational fields. Newtonian mechanics could not account for the orbit of Mercury around the sun, while Einstein’s does it accurately. Also we know that time dies get distorted by acceleration. We have to adapt the clocks in global positioning satellites to account for this. Lastly, we know from our particle accelerators that matter really does have different characteristics at high speeds, So the ‘proof’ in in the thousands of experiments that confirm Einstein’s insights: insights that were gained, largely with nothing more than ‘thought experiments’. It was a truly extraordinary leap he made.
