the fn key is a “function” key. it is used to select the different symbols on your keys. on each key there is a number and or letter. if you want to use the other symbol on the keypad, simply press the fn key and then the key that the symbol is on. it basically works the same way that laptops work with their “fn” key. EDIT: I apologize, my wording was incorrect. change the word symbol to number/letter as i did in other places. I found my information directly from the user manual of the phone. Press “fn” in landscape mode to dial vanity numbers. For example to dial 1-800-SAMSUNG, enter the number 1-800 using the gray numeric keys. Then press “fn”, and use the QWERTY keyboard to enter SAMSUNG and press . They put the key there because when companies understand that a lot of company’s will just give you 1-800-COLLECT or 1-800-BLUERAY or whatever.
