Dr. DeFreese: When we do endometrial ablation, we can treat someone who has fibroids that kind of distort the uterine cavity up to about 3 or 4 cm in size, and it treats that very effectively. I don’t think we have a good study that has followed people like that for five years to say what’s the recurrence of bleeding and such in people like that, but it’s still considered to be a reasonable treatment. It is possible to become pregnant, but it is not advised because you’ve destroyed most, if not all the lining of the uterus, and the egg is going to grow in a place that’s not going to be good.
