What is the Renal Vein?

0

Renal veins are blood vessels that carry deoxygenated blood out of the kidney to the inferior vena cava. The term “renal” refers to the kidney and the term “vein” refers to a blood vessel that carries blood toward the heart, as opposed to an artery which carries blood away from the heart. Renal veins lie anterior to the corresponding renal arteries and join with the inferior vena cava at close to ninety degree angles. The inferior vena cava is a major vein that carries blood to the right atrium, where the blood is sent off to become reoxygenated.
