What is the right kind of gun/caliber?
This is dependent on the game in question. We are usually asked this by deer and boar hunters. For deer, we recommend you use at least a .30 caliber rifle. We know many people have had success with lesser calibers but in our experiences a .308 or a 30-06 or even a 300 Win/Weatherby, will often correct a shot that is slightly off with its “Higher Muzzle Energy” than a .243 or other small calibers simply do not have. For Boar we strongly recommend you use an open sighted rifle or hand gun as opposed to a scoped one. This is because that we use dogs and a scope can limit your field of view. As calibers go, we recommend a 30-30 caliber rifle or a close equivalent. In hand guns the .357 and the .44 magnums are popular and effective as well as the .45acp. We do not recommend a 9mm.
