What is the right temperature for my fish tank?

0

My community tanks are set on 24C/76F. A thermostat is plus or minus 2C, so the temp varies from 22-26C. Some fish do need higher and if I was applying a medication I would likely raise the temp depending on what it was being treated. I stay on the lower end of the tropical temp scale because fish are cold blooded animals. Raising the temp increases their metabolism and in fish years they age quicker and die sooner. If you’re thinking of breeding having the ability to raise the temp to speed up the reproductive cycle is a tool. When you come to pick your fish, you will find minor differences of opinion on their husbandry on independent web pages. Everybody has an opinion, but that doesn’t mean anyone is wrong all the time.
