What Is the Role of a Defense Attorney?
The criminal justice system relies on the adversarial nature of the prosecution and the defense. In order for the system to be fair, everyone, even the worst criminals, deserve their day in court. Of course, many cases don’t go to full trial because they end in plea bargains or confession. Still, the role of a defense attorney is to play the crucial, but sometimes maligned, part of protecting the rights of the accused.
