What is the safe-operating temperature range for the new strip aerators?
A threatening danger for the membrane occurs, if the water surrounding the aerator freezes. Therefore the aeration tank has to be evacuated with the aeration on. This ensures that water attached to the membrane evaporates due to the warmer air blown in. For a dry membrane a temperature of –30°C= -22°F is inoffensive. That is one of the advantages of our PU membrane compared to EPDM membranes, which are decomposing at such low temperatures. A membrane damage occurs though at temperatures higher than + 35°C= 95°F and longer exposure to UV light. This is of special importance during storing and mounting. As soon as the mounting of aerators is done in one tank, the aerators have to be covered with at least 1m= 3.3 ft water layer. At low temperatures aeration has to be in operation to avoid freezing. Single tanks should be equipped one after the other, in order to have a very short aerator exposure to UV light.
