All seats in the US must meet the same safety criteria to sell, so technically they all are safe, however, if its hard to install, then it won’t be used correctly and that makes it unsafe. Also, they only must meet the guidelines, some seats barely pass, some exceed them. All infant seats, with the exception of one, are pretty similar. Going to 20-22lbs and lasting the average baby from 5-7 months. My BIG son outgrew his at 4 months. If you’re looking for a seat to grow with the child, definitely skip the infant seat stage, b/c it won’t. I’m not a big lover of infant seats anymore, knowing what I know now. Here’s why: It is really completely up to your preference, but, here’s my 2cents. Personally, I’d pick out an awesome stroller (since the ones that come in a travel system often aren’t all that great!) b/c the stroller is the part that you will be using for the next 3-4 years.
