What is the safest mode of travel?
I like traveling by air. I`m planning to go to UAE by air this summer. I`ve already booked a taxi from Dubai airport to my hotel ( http://kiwitaxi.com/UAE/Dubai+Airport ). Hope, I`ll have a perfect rest.
Most of the people says that plane is the safest mode of travel. The main reason is that safety standards are much higher for aviation. Commercial air travel is safe because the aviation industry works hard to make it so. Extremely heavy regulation forces airlines to remain safe with regular and extensive maintenance and safe operating procedures, and ensures that pilots, mechanics, flight attendants, and so on are fully qualified for their jobs.
Overall, compared to the auto industry, the aviation industry has a paranoid obsession with safety. And thanks to this obsession, air travel is just about the safest way to go anywhere.
Cars are more dangerous because safety is almost an afterthought in many cases (at least compared to aviation). Just about anyone who can stand can get a license, and cars only have to meet very minimum standards for safety in manufacture, and almost none for operation or maintenance.
Of course, it wouldn’t be practical to try to make cars as safe as airplanes, given that it would dramatically change the way society works (almost nobody would be able to drive, and driving would be too expensive for anyone but the idle rich). When a vodka-guzzling soccer mom can careen down the highway and kill herself and half a dozen others in a harrowing head-on collision, you know that automobile safety is still lightyears away from aviation.

I think that traveling with a group would be safer. From my experience of traveling alone, I can say that it’s a quite dangerous activity. I am working right now with the guys from stayreward.com, and traveling is a part of my job. So I have to travel alone sometimes, to create a good content.
