What is the scientific name for the poison arrow frog?
It’s supposed to be the Phylobates Terribilis. However, the name Poison Dart frog is a common term for the Poison Frogs, the Dendrobatidae family of frogs. The family is split into four genera: Epipedobates, Colostethus, Dendrobataes, and Phyllobates. A question that is raised is how the frogs produce this toxicity and research points towards the frog’s diet of highly toxic insects to be an important factor in the frog’s ability to synthesize its own poison.
