What is the significance of the Red, Yellow, and Blue colors of the SGI flag?
Together, the colors red, yellow, and blue form the SGI Tricolor Flag. On April 30,1988, SGI President Daisaku Ikeda made a speech at the first nationwide Soka Gakkai women’s division leaders meeting. He spoke about the symbolism of the red, white, and blue of the French flag, which stand for liberty, equality, and fraternity. He suggested a flag for the women’s division, composed of the three primary colors, red, yellow and blue. Red symbolizes harmony, yellow symbolizes seeking mind, glory, and intellect, and blue symbolizes fortune, peace, and kosen-rufu (world peace). The flag was subsequently adopted for the entire SGI organization.
