What is the solubility of TRITONTM X-45 surfactant in various solvents and in aliphatic hydrocarbons?
TRITON X-45 is miscible in most polar organic solvents and aromatic hydrocarbons, but it is insoluble in water. The following table shows the solubility of TRITON X-45 in typical solvents. TRITON X-45 is only slightly soluble in highly refined aliphatic hydrocarbons at low concentrations. By increasing the concentration of surfactant, or through the use of coupling agents, improved solubility can be obtained. The table below shows the minimum concentration of TRITON X-45 required to produce a clear solution in various aliphatic solvents without added solubilizers.
