Pauluhn, A., Ruedi, I., Solanki, S., Lang, J., Pike, C.D., Schuele, U., Thompson, W.T. and Huber, M.C.E. 1999, Applied Optics 38, 7035. derives the pre-loss Point Spread Function (PSF) for CDS/NIS from a comparison with Sumer data. It suggests where J is the first-order Bessel function and the parameter b has a value of 0.31 giving a slightly elliptical form with FWHM(x) = 6″ and FWHM(y) = 8″. Their data were taken with the 4″ wide slit and it is possible that a slightly better spatial resolution (in SolarX) is achievable in pre-loss data which used the 2″ slit.
