The newest social club in New York City, SPiN New York is serving up table tennis NYC style. Introduced as “a strikingly original artistic, athletic and social movement”, SPiN NY offers a hip setting for a game of table tennis or socializing with friends. This social club, located in the Flatiron district in Manhattan (between Park Avenue and Madison), houses table tennis courts with Olympic caliber cushioned flooring and 17 individual tables. The main room, consisting of 9,000 square feet of table tennis bliss, contains 15 state- of-the-art JOOLA tables. Two more tables are in a private room, sponsored by Fred Perry. One of the tables was designed by artist Rirkrit Tiravanija and is crafted from steel; it is the only table tennis table of its kind in existence. SPiN NY also offers robotic training machines, like the Newgy Robo-Pong models, a pro shop, lounge, full bar, locker room with showers, and a specially designed vault for paddle storage. By combining the sport of table tennis with an exclusive social club, SPiN New York has created something entirely original. We are introducing the concept of advance table reservations, up to 5 days or 5 minutes in advance. If you have a date, a highly anticipated grudge match, a limited amount of time to play at lunch or if you just want to sneak in a pre-dinner match, making a reservation will fundamentally change your experience of playing table tennis in Manhattan. Only SPiN Members will have this privilege. Sources: http://www.spinyc.

We have members that are really, really good that are in their 80s, and little tiny seven-year-olds that come in and kill everybody. It’s one of the few sports I can think of where girls and boys and men and women are on the same plane. We have a tournament every Friday between the top club players, and it’s been won three times by a woman now. They play for money, so they play really hard.” She continues, ” I love that about it, and I love the fact that you can’t get hurt. I love the fact that it’s fast, and fun.” She’s honest about her own skills. “I’m not good,” Susan tells me. “I’m m
