What Is The Spine?
The ‘spine’ is essentially a vertical services chamber that runs right through the building from top to bottom. There are a series of these throughout the tower that provide the services to each apartment. With the advent of the joinery ‘spine’, we are able to consolidate mechanical, waste, ventilation ducts, exhaust and return air within these chambers. This means that floor plans can be very flexible, apartments are quiet, exhaust is expelled vertically, and ceiling heights are not compromised by bulkheads.
