The role of refining has considerably increased recently in the Region. Throughout several years the parity between volumes of refining facilities and production of hydrocarbon resources in the Samara Region remains at the 7:1 level. The average parity in Russia is much lower and makes 3:1. Three Rosneft subsidiaries refine oil in the territory of the Samara Region: JSC Novokuybyshevsk, JSC Syzransky Refinery and JSC Kuybyshev Refinery. Last year the Kuybyshev Refinery processed 6.42 million tons of crude oil, which is 2% more than in 2006. The depth of refining made 60.6%, petroleum products production constituted 5.93 million tons. In its turn, in 2007 the Syzransky Refinery refined 6.61 million tons of crude oil, which is 5.3% more than in 2006. But the flagship of the Samara Region’s refining industry is the Novokuybyshevsk Refinery which processed 7.43 million tons oil and produced 6.93 million tons of petroleum products.
