What is the status of the Washington State Building Code Council’s emergency rule regarding duct testing for existing structures?

0

The Washington State Building Code Council filed a 120 day extension to the emergency rule regarding duct testing in existing structures. The initial temporary rule was due to expire on April 30, 2011. The extension now extends the rule to August 28, 2011. The requirement for duct testing in existing IRC defined occupancies (single family, duplex and townhouses) is to test only. As before, duct testers have to provide the test results to both the homeowner and the building department. It is up to the homeowner to decide if they want to have their ducts sealed or not.
