What is the supporting research behind Favoritism Theory?
FT is built on many years of observing child behavior in families. It is supported by numerous case studies of children with a wide variety of presenting problems such as anxiety disorders, OCD, self-mutilation, suicidal tendencies, fire-setting, depression, lack of achievement/motivation, rebelliousness, drug-taking, etc. The theory is also backed by the real-life biographies of famous individuals who were described in the author’s book as being more Favored or less Favored than a proximate sibling.
