Here is the issue – in the Orthodox and Conservative world, a baby is Jewish if the mother is Jewish. In the Reform movement, a baby is Jewish is one parent is Jewish and is brought up in the rituals and traditions of Judaism. To make it clear – the child of one Jewish parent raised as a Jew is a Jew in the Reform movement regardless of the sex or gender of that parent. Temple Sholom firmly supports that policy.
