These weekly amounts apply to claims opened in July through the end of the year, the ESD said. Also announced Thursday by the ESD: • About 25 percent of claimants receive the maximum amount and 6 percent receive the minimum amount. • In 2010, employers will pay unemployment taxes on the first $36,800 paid to employees, up from $35,700 in 2009. • Washington’s annual average wage also is used to calculate workers’ compensation benefits.
