The tragedy of early Christianity was its failure to realize, that the biggest heresy of all is its insistence that there is only one ecclesiastical obedience, only one orthodoxy. Such Orthodoxy is usually the worst heresy of all, since its narrow rigidity and intolerant exclusiveness is a standing denial of the love of God in Christ.
