What is the trauma experience like at Genesys?

Genesys has been verified by the stringent guidelines by the American College of Surgeons as a Level II trauma center. The facility receives a significant number of trauma patients per year. The trauma experience itself is unique among Emergency Medicine Residencies. The training is designed to provide the full spectrum of trauma care, not just initial stabilization in the ED. Trauma care is jointly managed by the Emergency and Trauma services. Procedures on Trauma patients are preformed by each department on an every other day basis. The exception to this rule is management of the airway, which is always the role of the Emergency Medicine specialist.  more
