What is the true color of Salmonella Bacteria?
I work with Salmonella Cells (unstained ) under a light microscope appear as only slightly greyer than the background ,with a darker edge marking them out, as do most other bacteria.At the highest magnification (x1000) of a light microscope the cells are still quite small( see gram stain picture below) Salmonella is often stained before going under a light microscope ,typically to find Gram Reaction, and so appear red in photomicrographs http://jon9783.myweb.uga.edu/image/image… If you grow Salmonella on a plain nutrient plate, colonies (in effect heaps of cells big enough to be seen with the naked eye) are colourless and opaque. http://www.microbelibrary.org/microbelib… You will be able to find pictures of plates with brightly coloured Salmo
