I too, always wanted a tube amp. One problem with them is, though, that if you live in a small place like a condo and apartment and need to keep things at a reasonable volume, the tube amps often don’t start sounding good until you turn them up pretty loud. If you don’t have to worry about how loud you’re playing, I would get a Fender Blues Junior. It’s a small little tube amp (you might even be able to find one in Tweed, which I think it really cool). If what you really want is a practice amp with a line in so you can play along with your CD’s or iPod and a headphone jack, solid state may be the way to go.
