What is the underlying theory behind proportioning nutritional intake based upon your blood type?

According to the great Dr. D’Adamo, Type O should eat a lot of meat, type A shoudl be vegetarians, and type B should eat dairy and should be omnivores. He says it has to do with lectins, which are a type of protien that deposits on the cells of your muscles and makes them more alkaline and reduces the electrical impluses thus making them weaker. He wrote the book called, ‘Eat Right for Your Blood Type’. The only downside to his theory is he has no real ‘scientific proof to back him up, it is just a theory, and it’s not really all that popular. Kind of makes me wonder though, I’m type A and almost always feel like crap after I eat a lot of meat, so I tend to be some what of a veggie lover, but I won’t count out the occasional bloody steak! Check out the book, makes for an interesting read.
