What is the VIC scheme?

0

In 2003, the government introduced a number of measures aimed at reducing vehicle crime with campaigns “Crime – Let’s Bring it Down” and “Secure your Motor”. One of the initiatives was the Vehicle Identity Check (VIC) scheme. From April 2003 all Cat C cars (see below!!) notified to DVLA will have to be checked before they can be re-taxed or a V5C log book issued. The identity check will help to confirm that details of the car being returned to the road match the record held by the DVLA. The check is not to confirm if the car is roadworthy.
