What is the Zip drive and will it be available at launch?
The Zip drive is a proprietary disk system that can be used to stored data on much like a floppy disk, only much larger. The Dreamcast Zip drive uses similar technology to the Iomega Zip drive that is available for PCs today. Each disk will hold approximately 100 MB of data and additional disks can be purchased. The disk system can be used to store any information that is downloaded from the internet, like images, movies, sound files and game add-ons (extra levels, cars, fighters or new areas to explore). Furthermore, the Dreamcast Internet browser will use the Zip dive as a cache disk (where it will store images and text for web pages) to decrease loading times for your favourite Internet pages.
