What is Therapeutic Swedish Massage?
Massage has been around for centuries, with early evidence in China 5000 years ago. India, Egypt, Japan, Greeks and Romans have all added their spin on the techniques and treatments. Therapeutic (Swedish) Massage is the manual manipulation of the soft tissues surrounding the muscles in order to promote health and well-being. Specific massage techniques are used to help rid the body of toxins and waste within the muscles and joints, by stimulating the circulation and lymphatic drainage. In addition slower, lighter movements are used to calm the mind and nerve endings and promote the release of endorphins (the body’s natural painkillers). It has many benefits, and is a powerful healing tool that enhances physical and emotional health, encouraging the body to heal itself without the use of chemicals.
