What is universal remote?
There is allot more that a universal remote can do. First is that you can control all your devices from one remote control. You can even control lighting, thermostat, security system, with added accessory’s. There is different quality’s and features of universal remotes. Some of the cheaper models are not learning remotes which means they have pre-programmed codes and cannot learn extra IR codes if needed, these models are pretty much useless. The better universal remotes are setup from a program on your computer that allows you to test and store code sets so you can modify the remote to work the way you need it. Also important is to setup Macros so that you can hit one button and do multiple functions. For example hit the power button, it can turn the cable box on, the TV on, go to the correct TV input, come to a preset volume.
