What is “Vertical Alignment?
” Our district’s K-12 art teachers have been working together to create a “Vertical Alignment” of all classes in our district–as recommended by the College Board and their AP program. According to the College Board, the “concept of Vertical Teams incorporates the idea that the offerings of the Advanced Placement Program should not be isolated courses, but rather a planned program for teaching skills and concepts over several years… to develop a continuum of skill building from one grade level to the next…” (Quote comes from http://apcentral.collegeboard.com/apc/public/preap/34485.html) 8) If I have selected an art course during the early spring registration and I did not get into that course, what should I do? Perhaps, you have chosen two “singleton” courses that meet at the same time. Or, perhaps, a class has prematurely closed. Classes should not be closed this early in the registration process.
