What is wrong with cotton?
Cotton is a great fiber for everyday wear, but it is not the best choice when it comes to your running attire. Cotton is very absorbent, but holds onto moisture and dries very slowly. Not only will cotton make you feel cold, wet and soggy, but because it dries so slowly it becomes extremely heavy. Technical fabrics are designed to grab moisture from the skin, shuttle it to the surface of the fabric, and then spread out the moisture over the surface for quick evaporation. This wicking action helps keep you cool in warm weather, and warm in cold weather.
