What is your history with the Streichtrios Belcanto Strings and Mendelssohn Trio Berlin?
I was a co-founder of the string trio Belcanto Strings. We started to play in 1993, and in 2009 we had our last concert in the Musikhalle Hamburg. … It will probably continue with the viola player Vladimir Mendelssohn, but at the moment there is a break. There are several CD recordings of us still available. The Mendelssohn Trio Berlin started in 1985 as the Salzburg Piano Trio. After a few changes of members over the years, I was the only original member remaining. The name Salzburg didn’t make sense any more because no member of the trio was residing in Salzburg. With my actual colleagues we decided to change the name. Mendelssohn’s aura and musicality came very close to our idea of making music, so we decided to dedicate our music to him.
