I think using software such as these for studio productions/mixes makes sense because the software can expand your creativity. That’s why I plan on using one of these for the next album. But using software to play live is another story. Some DJs believe beat matching is not necessary any more, as it might not be, but in that case I think we should reconsider the name because a “Disc Jockey” is one who moves ‘discs’ as opposed to “mouse pointers.” If someone is not riding discs any more, which in my opinion is perfectly acceptable, then it seems more appropriate to refer to them as “Mouse Jockeys” (or “MJs”). Would it be fair to say you’re a bit of a perfectionist? This is one of the reasons why the next album will be a studio production, because seeking perfection in a live 90m set, recorded in one go, is not good for my health – or for my neighbours who have to listen to me mixing!
