What kind of antibiotic is usually given to a chinchilla?
The most popular is ‘Baytril’ sometimes administered in water. This form of administering the medicine should not be recommended as chinchillas drink very little so may not ingest enough of the medicine, also, if the chinchilla lives in the same cage as others, they too will be taking the Baytril. I recommend that you ask the vet for the individual dosage and administer orally via plastic syringe. This antibiotic seems to be very successful, however it is not the only one. Further information can be obtained from your vet.
