Typically, although the salary might be lower than a comparable position in the private sector, the benefits are usually excellent. There won't be bonuses, but there probably will be good vacation time. My company makes up for the pay scale by contributing to the 403b account (like a 401K but better tax benefits for nonprofit workers) and having a lot of time off, in addition to health, dental, life, etc. Also, I have found, in general, your coworkers at a non-profit tend to be friendlier and the atmosphere more relaxed than in corporate America.  more
