What kind of cleansers and cosmetics should people with acne use?
The choice of products that promise to treat acne can be overwhelming. Some can actually cause irritation or pronounced dryness particularly during the early weeks of therapy, and some cosmetics and cleansers can actually worsen this effect. Choose cosmetics and toiletries labeled “noncomedogenic.” These will not promote the formation of comedones or cause acne. Consult you dermatologist or pharmacist for more information. Women should avoid heavy foundation makeup. Those with acne should use powder blushes and eye shadow rather than cream products because they are less irritating and noncomedogenic.
