It's hard to describe the clothing, because there was a different outfit for every single occasion. Women, for example, had a morning dress, an afternoon dress, and evening gown, shirtwaists, suits, and sporting clothes. In 1907, Paul Poiret (a French designer) raised the waistline and loosened the silhouette - prior to that, women's clothing was all corseted. Men's suits were three pieces (pants, vest, jacket). Shirt collars were very tall and very stiff.
