There are many varieties of flowers that continue to bloom throughout the fall.  Chrysanthemums, asters and some kinds of sunflowers are at their finest in autumn.  Most annuals will continue to bloom well into fall or even till frost if they are consistantly deadheaded and cut back when they get leggy.

There are countless lesser known species that flower in the fall, including chelone, heliopsis, kniphofia, sedum, and tricyrtis.  They are available in larger catalogs or can be found by a simple internet search.
