What kind of food should u have at a baby shower?

I recently went to a baby shower where they served brownies, and vanilla ice cream with raspberries. It was a huge success, very delicious! You definitely shouldn’t serve anything the mother shouldn’t eat, which after the obvious no alcohol could also include less obvious things like albacore tuna, which is high in mercury, and deli meat, which sometimes carries listeria, which can cross into the placenta. I doesn’t hurt to ask the mom if there’s anything else she shouldn’t take. I took some homeopathics the last part of my pregnancy and I was supposed to avoid chocolate, garlic, and peppermint. That was a rare thing for me, but I share it as an example that you never know what kind of diet restrictions the pregnant mother might have. If the baby is already born when you do the shower it of course changes things, but if the mother is breastfeeding, still take her diet into account. Good luck!

I always just had finger foods like a veggie tray with a couple different kinds of dip, fruit tray, finger sandwiches (or you could get a few different meats and cheeses and just set them out and people can make their own kind of sandwich with what they want on it), chips, cookies, refreshments (soda, water, juice), and of course your baby shower cake!
