What kind of jobs did ancient Greece women have?
Women in ancient Greece were secondary to their husbands with their main duties homebound such as rearing children.
Spartan women were equal to men in political and decision making roles. Spartan women challenged Xerxes messengers who threatened to invade Greece c.490 BC. This infuriated the messengers who tried to attack King Leonidas’ wife. The messengers were slaughtered and the Sparatans held back the Persians at Thermoplyae until Xerxes invasion fleet was destroyed by Temistocles.

Women in ancient Greece usually did not have jobs. If the woman was wealthy she would stay home and watch the slaves. If women were poor they would sew or weave and take them to the market to sell ( with a male escort of course), but if the woman was poor enough she would go alone and try to sell food or spices. But some women were able to become priestess to various gods and goddesses- the only time a woman in Ancient Greece was even slightly respected was if they were priestesses and priestesses were highly regarded.
