What kinds of special events has Disney done to celebrate the Haunted Mansion?
There have been many! Disneyland celebrated the 30th Anniversary of the Haunted Mansion on June 26, 1999 with a special ticketed event. The event began with a panel discussion by HM Imagineers entitled “The Haunted Mansion: 30 Years of Hot and Cold Running Chills” and sales of collectible merchandise (including event-specific pins, CDs, t-shirts, artwork, figurines, posters and a leather jacket. Much of the merchandise sold out within hours, and as of this writing is fetching 2-10 times retail price among Disneyana collectors). The evening was capped off with a midnight ride through the Haunted Mansion where guests got to shake the hands of the Imagineers who worked on the attraction and thrill to “real” ghosts hidden throughout the ride.
