That is a very broad question. Africa is a continent, not a country. So, just imagine a number of Europeans getting captured by slave traders, some will speak Polish, Russian, Spanish, Czech, Bulgarian, Bosnian, Croatian, Irish Gaelic, Scottish Gaelic and so on. The slave traders made sure to capture Africans from several parts of the continent, knowing that there would be a large language barrier. This way, the slaves will not be able to communicate with each other and form escape plans. Even in African countries, there are several languages spoken (not dialects).
