What language do they speak in Switzerland ?
German speakers are about 60% of the population. They speak various dialects of Swiss German that are not usually mutually intelligible. French is spoken in the west of the country. Geneva is a French speaking city. Italian is spoken in a small region in the south. Romansh is the last of Switzerland’s four official languages largely in an effort to keep this language alive. The number of speakers is small and declining; fewer still are the number who speak only Romansh.
