What leagues are offered by NWYB?
NWYB offers competitive (Dizzy Dean Baseball, Inc. franchise) and noncompetitive baseball leagues for ages 4-16, and competitive fastpitch softball for girls ages 7-16. Ages are calculated using League Age guidelines. Competitive leagues are for players with advanced skills, and the noncompetitive leagues are for instructional purposes. Rules for competitive and noncompetitive leagues are based on Dizzy Dean guidelines, with modifications for the instructional leagues. NONCOMPETITIVE LEAGUES PRE-TEE (4 year olds): This is a fun, instructional league for little tykes. Emphasis is on learning the skills and rules of baseball while having a good time. Players participate in one game per week, and no score is kept. Safety is stressed, and a softer ball is used. T-BALL (5-6 year olds): Winning and losing are secondary to teaching young kids about baseball. In the first half of the season, kids hit off of a tee (thus T-Ball).
