What makes an erection?
For this to happen, a number of things must occur. Initially, there is a mental-sexual stimulation, driven by the sexual urge of the male (libido). Mental stimulation results in a series of messages being sent from the brain to the penis. These messages lead to a relaxation of the arteries carrying blood to the male organ and the latter, therefore, fills with blood. Engorgement, in turn leads to a striffening of the penis. Following the climax of sexual arousal, the blood returns to the bodys circulatory system and the penis goes back to its normal, floppy state. The slightest hitch in any of this sequence of events such as a restricted supply of blood, mental anxiety or psychosexual disorders can leaqd to a failure to achieve an erection. • What is ED?
