What methods will accounting and financial management employers use to select candidates?

The vast majority of applications are now made via online application forms. Online application systems now include selection tests as standard, although the fundamentals of recruitment have not changed – it is a question of adapting this know-how to the medium of web-based recruitment. Although most medium-sized or large organisations prefer you to fill out their own application form rather than receive a CV that doesn’t supply enough information, some employers do use the CV and covering letter as a method of selection. If an employer likes what they see you may then be invited for a first round interview, which could lead to an assessment centre day. At an assessment centre you will be asked to take part in a variety of exercises and you could also face further interviews. At some stage in the process, you could be asked to complete various tests, such as general ability, numerical or verbal reasoning tests, aptitude tests and personality tests.
