What might be offensive to Czech people?

I agree with ‘yaom’… 1) don’t expect that everyone speaks English in the CR, most young people will be able to but don’t just start talking to ppl in English automatically assuming they understand what you’re saying… Here’s how to ask in Czech: – Do you speak English? – MluvĂte anglicky? (“Mlu-vee-te anglicky?”) 2) I don’t think that WW2 / Nazi Germany is an issue Czechs wouldn’t want to talk about… it’s a part of Europe’s history… However, I think a lot of Czechs would get fired up about the issue of expulsion of Sudeten Germans after the WW2… so maybe stay away from that if you don’t want to get into a discussion about war crimes and how deserves what etc. It’s still a sore spot between Germans and Czechs. 3) I’ll make a generalization here but I think that most Czechs and Slovaks hate when you still call our countries Czechoslovakia… it used to be Czechoslovakia but it’s not anymore… I believe people should know at least the correct name of the country they’re visiting
